Cyprusbasket.net contacted the Cypriot coach after the game and he sent his own message. More specifically, he said that AEK didn’t manage to handle with the proper way the friendly wins in Greece and expressed his shame on the perfomance of his players. Furthermore, he highlighted that the excuses are for people who are mentally weak.
In conclusion, Gavriel apologized to the fans and focused on the next day of Petrolina.

His exact statement was:

“Tonight we don’t deserve to call ourselves members of Petrolina Aek and I mean nobody ,first of all us the coaching stuff and then the players . We worked really hard this past month to reach to a point that we would fight for this specific game. We showed very good signs in Greece but we failed to show up ready for the first official game . Honestly I am ashamed for all of us,the committee gave everything we asked for and we didn’t respect that and I repeat, first of all it was us the coaching stuff and then my players.
