The after (basketball) life of George Anastasiadis

0

It was end of an era for George Anastasiadis, who talked with Nick Baggelis of CyprusBasket.net about his retirement and feelings after 23 years of continuous attendance in the Cypriot courts.

The “basketball scoring machine” as they used to call him decided to end his professional basketball career. There are a lot of reasons why but the most important one was family. His physical condition is excellent and last year he had generally a very good performance with ETHA Engomi.

How is the afterlife of the retired veteran player ? What is missing and what is not?

“I miss the friction with my teammates, the atmosphere in the dressing room. Every new year new players and coaches used to come and this waiting game had a nice mystery behind it, George said with a smile on his face. “Certainly i don’t miss being tired after practice or after the games (laughs) but surely I miss the fun moments with my teammates during preseason workout and during the season of course”. The “scoring machine” concluded his short interview by saying that he works out 3 to 4 times per week and after his last game with Etha Engomis he never stepped foot in a basketball court.

Cyprusbasket.net wishes George a happy retirement and a healthy living.

We will miss you George
