Cluj came to play

We all knew that today’s game was very difficult for our Cypriot team Aek Larnaka. The Champions league is a new competition with high budget teams and the level of competition is way above Cyprus standards. Having said that Aek was set to play against the Romanian team Cluj. The Romanians managed to go away with the huge win that leaves no room for hope for Aek.

Cluj proved to be a complete and ready squad to step inside the basketball court. Aek was unfortunately absent today. From the first five minutes Aek was trailing by 2-10 only to close the quarter by trailing by 11. The difference between the two teams was obvious. Asamovic (Cluj) was running the offence assisting Moldoveanu who finished the game with 16 points and Barro who finished the game with 14.
There is no point to analyze each quarter since the difference in tempo and rhythm between the two teams was huge. Cluz was running the floor getting all the defensive and offensive rebounds and scoring from the perimeter.

MVP

Moldoveaunu is our MVP of the game. Romanian star Vlad Moldoveanu went 6-for-10 from the floor and picked up a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds to register an efficiency rating of 23 in 29 minutes of play. He also contributed in defense.

Key Player

We voted Barro to be the Key player of the game. He finished the game with a double-double 12points and 12 rebounds.

Stand up Player

We chose Primoz Brezec as the player who stood out from all his teammates. Primoz scored 11 points and grapped 10 rebounds.

The Romanian side play host to the Cypriot champions on Thursday in the return leg and in case they avoid a monumental collapse and a defeat by a margin larger than 29 points they will advance to Round 2, where Muratbey Usak Sportif awaits the winner of this tie.
