Hi my name is Alexander Vezenkov and I am currently playing professional basketball for Barcelona in Spain. It is a great honor for me to receive the invitation to start my own blog in the first Cypriot basketball website “cyprusbasket.net” where I will be able to share with the world everything that is happening and going on with my basketball career.
Also, I feel great joy because this is the first basketball site that is exclusively targeted to basketball at the place where I started playing basketball. There was a huge decline in popularity for this great sport in recent years, but now we can see that there is a tremendous effort from many parties in the island to improve the quality of the game. Already Cyprus national team results during the last 5 friendly games were very encouraging. Certainly there are some young players who can step up to the challenge. Very important was also the European course of AEK Larnaca, who went ahead and made great performances in Europe.
As for me I started playing basketball in APOEL BC, at a team where my father used to play. My sister played with the Cypriot women’s basketball team so you can understand that I entered into the Cypriot basketball atmosphere from a very young age. I went to all the games basketball and football of APOEL and got adjusted to the Cypriot lifestyle very early. APOEL was the team that was in my heart while I was in Cyprus and I felt happy, while learning a lot. At 15 I went to Aris Thessalonikis BC and I worked really hard and managed to evolve.
I spent six wonderful years in Thessaloniki and last summer Barcelona BC asked for me and made a proposal that nobody could have said no to. At the same time, I am playing in the Bulgarian national team, the place where my parents are from and am trying my best for the national Bulgarian team. I feel really happy and grateful for what I have experienced in my young career.
